Hemphill planning busy weekend

Manvel (Texas) 2016 Rivals250 wide receiver Reggie Hemphill has already experienced much over the course of the recruiting process.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound wide receiver picked up an early offer from Texas and committed before his sophomore season. His recruiting process has since re-opened and he now holds offers from top college programs such as Clemson, Notre Dame, and LSU.

With the 2014 season the standout receiver does plan to take an unofficial visit to Texas and Baylor for the opening weekend of college football, and really he just wants to enjoy himself.
"Just to enjoy the moment," Hemphill said. "You know a lot of kids who want to don't get recruited, so I'm just going up there to enjoy myself and watch some live college football."
At this point in the process, he is taking his time and is keeping his options open.
"Not too many favorites, everybody is pretty much equal right now," Hemphill said.
In fact, when it comes to recruiting, he has other things on his mind right now.
"Recruiting, I probably won't get back into it until the middle of the season," Hemphill said. "Right now I'm just trying to get these first couple of games out of the way. We have goals to go undefeated so we're just focused on the games."
On Thursday night, Hemphill and the Manvel Mavericks began their march toward and undefeated 2014 with a 35-10 win over Houston Westfield. Hemphill and his teammates were happy to record the win, but it was also fun to just return to the football field and see live action.
"Oh man it's been forever since we played football, so it's just exciting really," Hemphill said. "And our team has grown together in terms of chemistry and comraderie. So it's going to be fun this year."
As a sophomore Hemphill recorded 530 yards and 10 touchdowns on 26 receptions and as a freshman he grabbed 8 receptions for 370 yards and 6 touchdowns. He is currently ranked No. 215 in the 2016 Rivals250, No. 37 among the nation's 2016 wide receivers, and No. 26 in the Rivals.com Texas Initial Top 75 for 2016.
Hemphill and Manvel take on Galena Park North Shore on Friday at 7 p.m.
