Heisman Watch: New names in mix

Overview: In TCU's biggest test so far this season, Doctson finished with eight
catches for 155 yards (both game-highs) and two touchdowns as the Horned Frogs
beat Kansas State, 52-45, last weekend.
Doctson scored on a 32-yard pass midway through the first quarter but his
biggest catch all night came with 1:10 left when he connected with QB Trevone
Boykin on a 55-yard pass for the game winner.
On the season, Doctson has 50 receptions (33 more than anybody else on the team)
for 877 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Horned Frogs average 51 points per outing.
Farrell's Take: Doctson reminds me a ton of A.J. Green, just the way he high
points the football, how angular he is and what tremendous body control he has.
He has that type of talent when you're talking about guys like A.J. Green.
COMPLETE LIST
1
RB
Leonard Fournette
LSU
The skinny: Fournette has a tremendous lead in the Heisman race
but Florida isn't the only test ahead. The Tigers still have to play Alabama,
Arkansas, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
2
QB
Trevone Boykin
TCU
The skinny: Boykin has thrown for 2,103 yards with 21
touchdowns and five interceptions this season. He's also rushed for 366 yards
and four scores. TCU averages 51 points and more than 380 passing yards per
game.
RB
Dalvin Cook
Florida State
The skinny: A new addition to the Heisman watch list, Cook is a
focal point in the Seminoles' offense. His performance against Miami could
foreshadow the rest of his season.
4
QB
Seth Russell
Baylor
The skinny: Russell has thrown for 1,527 yards with 22
touchdowns and five picks so far this season for an offense averaging more than
64 points per game. He has also rushed for four scores.
5
WR
Josh Doctson
TCU
The skinny: Doctson continues to emerge as one of the best
receivers -- if not overall players -- in the country. With the Horned Frogs still
undefeated, Doctson deserves to be high on this list.
6
RB
Ezekiel Elliott
Ohio State
The skinny: Elliott has rushed for 835 yards and 10 touchdowns
so far this season averaging about seven yards per carry. He had 106 yards and
two touchdowns in the 49-28 win over Maryland this past weekend after running
for 75-, 65- and 55-yard scores against Indiana.
7
WR
Corey Coleman
Baylor
The skinny: Coleman leads the Bears with 31 catches for 678
yards and 13 touchdowns. He averages nearly 22 yards per reception. Baylor is
throwing for more than 367 yards per contest.
