Height wont slow Florida RB prospect

MELBOURNE, Fla.- Palm Bay High running back Stephan Mercer isn't the tallest running back prospect out there, but he runs hard on every down, has very good speed, quickness and agility and is tough to tackle. These traits put the 5-foot-8, 190-pounder as a potential Division I-A prospect in the Class of 2008.
Mercer is currently getting letters from several programs.

"Schools are sending me letters about coming to camp, things like that," Mercer said.
Louisville and Missouri are two of the major programs sending Mercer mail.
"I don't know too much about Louisville," he said. "I'm trying to learn everything that they send me in the mail. I don't know much about Missouri, either."
Mercer believes there is no doubt that he's a Division I-A prospect.
"I've got a heart for the game," he said. "I love the game and I will do whatever the coach tells me to do."
Mercer has been timed as fast as 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also runs track at Palm Bay, competing in the 100-meter dash and the high jump.
Mercer plans to attend the Miami NIKE Camp on April 1 on the campus of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
