Heels lead for 09 WR

Class of 2009 wide receiver Kevin Rojas has only lived in North Carolina for a year but a local school has already made a huge impression on him. The 6-foot-2, 196 pound wide receiver from Raleigh (N.C.) Wakefield has a lot of upside and already has a solid favorite.
Oftentimes prospects will have an early favorite, only to change it as the recruiting process drags on. That could be the case for Rojas, but if he gets an offer from North Carolina it would be very difficult for him to turn down.

"UNC is definitely my favorite right now," Rojas said. "I've camped there and at NC State this summer and I'd say I liked UNC way more. I enjoyed both of them but UNC's was just great. I've only been here for a year so I haven't had a chance to see much of those schools, other than those camps, but what I saw at UNC was just great.
"The schools that have sent me stuff in the mail are Florida, Virginia and Vanderbilt. Of those I'm probably most interested in Vanderbilt, since academics are going to be a big factor in my decision. But I like UNC a lot more than them at this point, just because I love what I've seen of the school and I know the academics are great there too."
Rojas made a name for himself as a big play threat at Wakefield High School last year, which isn't far from UNC's campus. Prior to that he started on the freshman team at Lincolnshire (Ill.) Adlai E. Stevenson near Chicago.
What does he feel he could bring to a team at the next level?
"Obviously that's a long way off but I think I could do a lot," he said. "Most schools will be recruiting me as a receiver, but I'll play some outside linebacker too. After the UNC camp I felt like I was running routes that were a lot more crisp. I really improved there a lot. I'm really confident with my hands and I'm getting really good at getting off the line. I'd call myself a clutch receiver too. Basically my speed, agility and hands are all fine."
Rojas ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds at the Ultimate 100 camp in New Jersey earlier this summer.
