Heavy hitters after Jackson

Lamar Jackson has not changed his official visit schedule one bit but the four-star defensive back from Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin said he is hearing a lot more from Texas and Florida. He is not sure about when or if the Gators and Longhorns will offer but he believes it could come soon and then that could add another wrinkle into his recruitment .

WHAT'S NEXT?: Jackson starts taking his official visits in earnest in late September with his first trip to Notre Dame on Sept. 3 for its season opener against Texas. Also that month, the four-star defensive back will visit Oregon and Arizona State. In October, Jackson will take his final two trips to Oklahoma and Michigan. Rounding out his top 10 is Cal, USC, UCLA, Utah and Washington. Even though those programs won't receive official visits, Jackson could take unofficial and all of them remain in serious contention.
IN HIS WORDS: "Still in constant communication with my top 10 schools and some other schools like Texas and Florida are talking to me so we'll see," Jackson said. "Just a matter of time I guess (for offers)."
RIVALS' REACTION: Jackson is going to take some crucial official visits over the next couple months which could sway his recruitment. The four-star is open to all those programs and it could get even more interesting if a heavy hitter like Texas gets in the mix. USC has made the big safety a top priority in this recruiting class and Jackson has shown a lot of interest in the Trojans as well. Although things could drastically change as Jackson goes through his visits, it still looks like USC holds an edge in his recruitment.
