Hazelton ready for Hokies

Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military wide receiver Vidal Hazelton has his first official visit coming up this weekend as he'll watch two of his favorites go head-to-head. Hazelton, the nation's No. 2 wide receiver, will be in Blacksburg, Va. checking out the Virginia Tech Hokies take on the Miami Hurricanes. While some thing the 'Canes are the team to beat for Hazelton, the fact of the matter is that he's wide open.
"I don't have a leader at all," said the 6-foot-3, 193-pounder. "I know I'm going to Virginia Tech this weekend for an official and that should be a good time. That's one of the biggest games of the year and two teams I'm interested in are playing."

Hazelton took a trip to Penn State last weekend for an unofficial visit.
"It was really good," he said. "I was very impressed with them and the atmosphere and crowd there was great. I could play there right away. They need wide receivers with a bit of size. I spoke to Derrick Williams and some other players and they were all cool. I beat Derrick in NCAA 2006 but he won't admit it I'm sure."
Hazelton isn't sure he needs an official to Penn State now.
"It was close to an official, I got to do everything," he said. "They're very much up there for me."
After the Hokies this weekend, Hazelton has Tennessee scheduled for Nov. 11, Southern Cal for Nov. 18 and Miami for Nov. 25. His fifth visit is up in the air.
"It might be Georgia and I'm also looking at Florida State and Florida," he said. "Georgia isn't recruiting me as hard as the others. They would be my fifth, but I'm not sure they need wide receivers that much."
Hazelton has been getting quite a bit of attention on the field at Hargrave.
"I'm getting doubled and sometimes triple teamed," he said. "They seem to be rolling safeties over to me all the time so it's a bit frustrating. But I'm playing against college-level players so it's preparing me for the next step."
