Haynes talks Louisville pledge

Jacksonville (Fla.) University Christian defensive end Marquis Haynes committed to Louisville this weekend.
"I am very excited about what I did," Haynes said of committing. "I wanted to see how everybody at Louisville would react if I committed. Everybody there was very excited that I committed. It was a good feeling for me."

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound stand-up defensive end will be a pass-rushing specialist for the Cardinals.
"They are going to use me at defensive end," Haynes said. "I am comfortable with how they plan to use me."
Haynes said a major reason why he opted for Louisville is that he feels the program is ready to take the next step.
"I really feel like they are on the verge of doing some great things," Haynes said.
The talented defender also felt comfortable with the support system available to student-athletes at Louisville.
"The people there make me feel it is the right place for me," Haynes said. "The teachers, the tutors, the coaches - they are all about helping the players there."
One particular member of Charlie Strong's staff was integral in Haynes' decision.
"I dealt with Coach Ron Dugans a lot," Haynes said. "Me and Coach Ron are very close. We are like family. What he told me about Louisville is that it is a good school. He said that they work you hard and work to help you realize your potential."
Next up for Haynes are plans to see his future home, as well as some other schools.
"I am going up there this summer," Haynes said. "When I visit there I want to get a feel for what makes them so hyped for every game.
"I also plan to visit some other schools during the summer as well," Haynes added. "Kentucky, Iowa State, Minnesota, USF, and FIU. All of those have offered me."
Despite his visit plans to see other schools, Haynes said he intends to sign with Louisville when the time comes.
"I plan to stay committed to them," Haynes said.
As a junior, Haynes recorded 21 sacks. In addition to standing out on the football field, Haynes is also a solid contributor for the University Christian basketball team.
