CYPRESS, Texas - Exciting news came this week for Rosenberg (Texas) Terry safety/linebacker prospect Lekenwic Haynes.
This weekend while at the GHFCA Texas Football Combine, the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder said that his coach told him this week about a verbal offer from Oklahoma State. Haynes has the Cowboys in the lead and looks to head to OSU this summer for a camp visit.
"I really like Oklahoma State," Haynes said. "I like the program, it's in the Big 12, and the Big 12 is where I want to play. My head coach told me that they were going to offer me. I'm planning on going to their camp this summer to show my talents and I could make a decision there."

Haynes says another school, Arkansas, has also been showing interest.
"They just said they were going to come see me," Haynes said. "I've traded text messages with them a little bit so far."
With his big frame, Haynes says that schools are looking at him as either a safety or a linebacker at the next level. He says that his ability to make big hits and play well in coverage gives him a lot of options on defense.
"I like to run up and make big hits," he said. "I also play well in coverage. This season I just want to get lots of tackles. I'd love to be first-team all-district. Last year I made the second-team all-district (team).
"I'm playing safety right now and I think that's my best position."
