Haynes attracting major attention

While district-mate Jacquizz Rodgers and Lamar Consolidated stole the show all season winning a state championship, Terry (Texas) High School might have one of the most talented Division I athletes that no one is talking about.
Lekenwic Haynes has starred at Terry High School since his sophomore season and has accumulated offers from the likes of Purdue, Michigan State, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

"This guy is for real and he's really only now starting to get into the recruiting process," Terry coach Tim Teykl said. "He's a tremendous athlete who has a complete package."
Haynes is a big safety, who could move down to linebacker or even as far down as defensive end. Haynes stands 6-foot-4, weighs in at 215-pounds, and has high school track speed.
"He's a prototypical Division I athlete," Teykl said. "He can play a lot of different spots.
Haynes has already officially visited Purdue and plans of seeing Michigan State, Ole Miss and Arkansas in weeks to come.
"It's kind of strange that two of the schools he is interested in have gone through coaching changes, but we'll work through that," Teykl said.
Athlete Anthony Brown of Terry is also getting a lot of traffic, but he will be attending Navarro Junior College upon graduation.
