Hawks close to getting Texas pledge

Iowa played host to one of the top safety prospects in the state of Texas this weekend. And they could also be close to getting a commitment from the same player.
“I loved my visit to Iowa,” Baytown (Texas) Lee two-star safety Charles Godfrey said. “I was really high on Iowa going into the visit, but seeing it in person made me feel even better about what I was thinking. The coaches are great, the players are great and the atmosphere made you feel right at home.”

Godfrey said he’s thinking about making a pretty quick decision.
“I’m going to go ahead and visit Missouri this weekend and then maybe come back and make my decision,” Godfrey, who is 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, said.
“I’m still talking a little bit to Kansas State, but I don’t know what they want to do with me. They’re kind of hot and cold with me.”
Godfrey is the brother of Kansas State starting quarterback Ell Roberson. However, it looks like Iowa is definitely in the lead and if Godfrey went up to Iowa City it would pair him with former teammate quarterback Drew Tate.
“Drew really likes it up there,” Godfrey said.
