Hawkins Talks About Decision

It wasn't an easy decision for Stockton (Calif.) Edison wide out Lavelle Hawkins but when he said he followed his heart, it led him to sign with LSU over childhood favorite Miami.
"It was the toughest decision I've ever made," Hawkins said. "I almost put of signing today but the more I thought about it, I just realized LSU was where I belonged. I felt the most comfortable on their campus and a big thing with Miami is that's where I wanted to go as a kid, I'm not a kid anymore.
"I had to take that out of the equation and base the decision not on who I liked as a kid but who I felt was best for me. We have a great class coming in, probably the best in the country and with Early (Doucet) and Xavier (Carter) along with myself at receiver, how can you beat that."
