Hawkins ready for another trip

Chris Hawkins is excited about his official visit to Notre Dame this weekend for many reasons.
It might not be enough for the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., four-star cornerback to switch his commitment from USC but Hawkins is ready to see another campus and what the Irish can offer.

"I'm looking forward to it," Hawkins said. "I've never been to Indiana so I want to see the campus and I've heard it's a great environment during game day. They have great traditions so I want to check that out as well.
"I'm going to be watching the corners during the game. The coaches talk to me on Facebook all the time about how they want to use me."
Hawkins, who has been committed to the Trojans since April 1, has already taken trips to Washington and Cal in recent weeks. Both went well but the Rancho Cucamonga standout has stood firm with his pledge to USC.
Rated as the eighth-best cornerback and No. 79 prospect in the 2013 class by Rivals.com, Hawkins also plans to visit Arizona State later this month for its matchup against UCLA.
Hawkins received some good news recently too when the USC coaches told him he'll be able to take an official visit there.
Since he's an early enrollee it appeared Hawkins would not have a chance but now the four-star cornerback is planning an official trip to USC in early December.
"The coaches called and told us all the early admits will take their visit on December 7," Hawkins said.
"It's great because I was kind of bummed that I wasn't going to be able to take one. When they called and gave me the news I was ecstatic."
