Jaylinn Hawkins recently added his first Big 10 offer and the 2015 wide receiver is excited to learn more about the program.
Northwestern offered the Buena Park, Calif., standout and Hawkins said it wasn't completely a surprise since he has talked with the coaching staff on numerous occasions.
"I've been talking to the staff for a cool minute," Hawkins said. "I've been talking to the DB coach along with the receivers coach, both sides of the ball. I talked to the head coach. They have a cool, nice staff and cool tradition at that school so it was a blessing to get.
"It wasn't really surprising. It wasn't just a random offer because I've been talking to them for a minute."
The four-star receiver now has offers from Northwestern, California, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Washington State.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound recruit said he's been talking to USC a lot more and coaches have stopped by his school twice. Oregon has been at the school and Hawkins said Duke has also checked in.
The 2015 standout said he has a feeling more offers could be close.
"I'm not sure, but I think Duke wants to offer and I think Arizona State wants to offer," Hawkins said. "Arizona and a couple other schools are coming up to talk to me.
"I'm not trying to go to a school for coaches because they change. I'm just looking at the programs and see how they run things and I'm just taking my time with it."
