Hawkins a done deal

Is it a forgone conclusion that Carrollton (Texas) Turner cornerback Michael Hawkins will end up at Oklahoma? It's starting to look that way, according to his coach, Tim Beck.
"As far as the recruiting goes, there really isn't a whole lot new," Beck said. "He's not given Oklahoma any kind of official indication, but he's all but committed. He's really not thinking about it that much, to be honest."

There are several reasons for that, Beck said.
The No. 1 reason is because of Hawkin's home life. He's been unable to be reached by numerous coaches because he's had to move recently and his new home does not have a phone line. That has forced many of the college coaches to contact Hawkins at school.
"The ones that he's talked to have talked to him here in our office," Beck said. "That's a lot of work for the coaches to go through, and I think some have dropped off on him because of that."
That and the fact that it looks like Hawkins will be wearing Crimson and Cream in the future.
"I think the coaches think it's a forgone conclusion," Beck said. "So that means many of them have moved on to other prospects they think they have a good shot with."
Beck said Oklahoma, Texas, A&M, Colorado, Nebraska and Florida have all contacted Hawkins at school.
He also said Hawkins has not lined up any official visits at this point and is unsure whether or not his four-star cornerback will attend any games over the next few weekends.
