Hawkeyes pick up a safety

Lorain (Ohio) Clearview athlete Anthony Hitchens received an offer from Iowa earlier in the week and it didn't take long for him to decide that's where he wants to spend his college years.
The Hawkeyes extended an offer to Hitchens on Wednesday of this week and the senior said at the time that he was surprised and excited about what had happened.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect is on an official visit to the Big Ten school this weekend. While he was unavailable to speak he alerted Rivals.com via text message that he had made his decision.
"I'm committed but I'm going to be busy until Sunday night," Hitchens said in the text.
On Saturday he was in meetings with members of the Iowa coaching staff.
Prior to committing to Iowa, Hitchens had received offers from Indiana, Kansas, Akron and Eastern Michigan.
As a senior this past fall he rushed for more than 1,400 yards and 21 touchdowns from his running back position. On defense he recorded 76 tackles and two interceptions.
Iowa has recruited Hitchens to play safety. He is the Hawkeyes 20th commitment in the Class of 2010.
