Hawkeyes continue to lead for LB

There is no shortage of talent at Cleveland Glenville, and that's why sometimes guys like two-star outside linebacker Derrick Smith get overlooked by fans and recruiting reporters. However, the college coaches are very aware of the 6-foot, 178-pounder.
Smith has been a long-time Iowa lean, and he said there isn't much new in that regard. He said weekly talks with Ken O'Keefe continue to be fun and fruitful.

"He's just a cool coach," Smith said about the Hawkeye assistant. "He's just really cool. We talk about football and about life. He talks to me about how they're going to make sure that everything is in order when I get up there."
When he gets up there?
"Well, he means if I were to commit to them," Smith said. "He says there is still an offer on the table for me. He wants me to come up for a visit. I think I'm going this next weekend. I still need to talk to him about it and see if that's when they want me to come up."
Smith said he's also slated to visit Toledo on December 16. Smith also has offers from Toledo, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.
