Hawgs first to offer Texan

Houston Nutt has always been able to dip into the Lone Star State and find quality players that were often under-recruited and it looks like the Hawgs have found themselves another Lone Star State sleeper.
Rosenberg (Texas) Terry safety Adrian Davis is still a virtual unknown on the recruiting front, but Arkansas was the first to step up an offer him a scholarship recently. He is being recruited by Arkansas safety coach Chris Vaughn, who recruits East Texas for the Razorbacks.

"Adrian is everything you want in a defensive back," Terry defensive coordinator Allan Roberts said. "He played for us as a sophomore at cornerback, and he would have been the starter as a junior but he hurt his knee and missed the entire year. He came back this year really strong and has worked his way back into a very good player.
"I have no doubt if it wasn't for the injury everybody in the area would be all over this kid."
Davis, who is a solid 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, is also a talent on the basketball court, but it looks like football is his future. This year as a senior he had seven interceptions, including three in one game against Santa Fe.
"His cousin is Michael Lewis that plays for the Eagles," Roberts said. "I coached Michael when he was in high school, and Adrian reminds me a lot of him with his talent and ability to make big plays.
