Hawaii POY a Dawg

The Washington Huskies once again played their Hawaiian trump card and landed another standout from the Islands in defensive lineman Wilson Afoa (6-3, 260, 4.9) from Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis.
The Huskies fought off offers from Utah, Washington State, and the hometown school Hawaii.

This was no small task for Rick Neuheisel and his staff since June Jones has been the head coach for the Hawaii Warriors, UH has done a much better job keeping the in-state standouts at home.
But has the story goes you can’t win them all and Neuheisel and company will give Afoa a little bit of the Aloha spirit in Seattle.
Afoa emerged this past fall in Hawaii to earn Defensive Player of the Year in the state, he helped lead St. Louis to a state title and showed college recruiters he was worthy of D1 attention.
Afoa accounted for 51 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three pass deflections and one forced fumble his senior season.
Great get for the Huskies.
