"I feel like staying home is good," Lolohea said. "It is great to be able to play in front of my family and friends."
"It is really exciting," Elisara said. "It is good to come to a conclusion. It just felt right to commit to U-H. This is where we grew up. I grew up watching U-H. I just wanted to stay and play for Hawaii. My family is really happy about it. It would be hard if I went away to college for them to fly out and watch my games."
Elisara said the Hawaii coaches were equally as happy.
"They were really surprised, I could just see how happy they were."
Lolohea said he is ready to get into the program and compete.
"The coaches said I could be an outside linebacker, or a rush end," Lolohea said. " I would play anything, I just want to play. I know they are bringing in a lot of guys on defense, and there is going to be a lot of competition, it should be fun."
Kapolei Head Coach Darren Hernandez feels the Warriors are getting two standout linebackers.
"Dustin is just a classic between the tackles, physical run stuffer. You can't be more of a classic middle linebacker than Dustin," Hernandez said. "But he is not a liability is coverage. He is about 250 pounds now, but he can cover backs out of the backfield."
"Lolohea is so versatile. He can play any of the three linebacker spots. He can cover, he can blitz off the edge. He is very athletic."
Hernandez said Elisara led the team with 89 tackles, including nine tackles for loss, two sacks, and in addition, two interceptions. Lolohea had 86 tackles, eleven sacks, twelve tackles for loss, and brought both of his interceptions back for touchdowns this season.
