Hawaii Lands Cali ATH

Hawaii has a commitment from one of the top athletes in the state as Vallejo’s (Calif.) Desmond Thomas announced for the Bows over the weekend following his third official visit. Thomas also tripped to Arizona and UNLV in December.
“It’s an incredible place," Thomas said. “It was my first time in Hawaii and it’s just incredibly beautiful there. I really like Coach Jones a lot and that offense is like wide receiver heaven. With Timmy Chang at quarterback, I mean he’s a legitimate Heisman candidate and that will be great exposure not only for him but for our whole program.

“I basically had three criteria in making my decision. One, I was looking for a place where I knew I could get a great education, two, a place where I could play early and three, a place where I would enjoy where I was at and get the full college experience. I think Hawaii definitely fits all three of those and I’m very excited about my decision.
“I’m coming in as a wide receiver, that’s where I want to play but if things don’t work out there for me, they said they’ll move me to safety which is where I also played in high school. Hawaii is just a great place and the people there have a lot of passion for sports and really support the athletes and that’s exciting to me.”
Thomas, 6-1, 160 pounds caught 32 balls for 377 yards and four touchdowns at receiver and led the team with 105 tackles and six picks on defense.
