Hawaii in on Tweedy

The Woodlands (Texas) receiver Alex Tweedy has been hanging loose in more ways than one.
Tweedy, who fractured his tibia plateau during 7-on-7 this spring, has been rehabbing all summer. Bending, stretching and riding the stationary bike. Over and over again.

"I understand the injury thing now," he said. "It's the worst thing ever. I'd trade both arms for one leg. I've just been hanging out and rehabbing all summer. The hardest part is having to just watch on the sideline and not be able contribute. I want to be out there so bad. I'm starting to see the muscles in my legs, so it's going good, but it's all mental."
While he's been working all summer to return for his senior season, he has remained on the minds of Division I scouts. He has been offered by Air Force and North Texas and should be receiving an official offer from the University of Hawaii within days.
"I was recommended by Andy McCloud's quarterback coach Steve Clarkson," he said. "He has an old teammate that is the recruiting coordinator at Hawaii and they loved my tape. I've talked with all the coaches and they are close to offering.
"The distance is not a problem and what a great place for a receiver to play," he said. "I still want to talk with Coach Todd Dodge about their program before making a decision though."
Tweedy as a first-team, all-district selection at receiver as a junior and should return around the fifth game of the 2008 season.
