Hattis adds Wazzu offer, eyes trips

Three-star offensive tackle Henry Hattis has held in-state scholarship offers for quite a while but his highlight tape has started to make the rounds and more schools are getting involved.
The 6-foot-7, 265-pound prospect from Rio Rancho (N.M.) Cleveland landed his latest offer from Washington State on Monday, adding to his list of New Mexico, New Mexico State and Texas Tech.

Hattis, the No. 42-rated offensive tackle in the 2016 class, is already eying a trip to check out the Cougars.
"Washington State came as a bit of surprise to me because I hadn't heard anything from their coaches until my coach told me they were interested about a week ago," Hattis said. "We got on a conference call with Clay McGuire, the offensive line coach there, and then they offered. It was very sudden and unexpected, but I'm very grateful. I'm hoping to get out there soon."
The offer arrived just before Hattis and his family were set to go on a couple visits. The athletic lineman said he is set to fly into Chicago this weekend and then drive down to see the Missouri campus. Hattis will also visit Northwestern.
"I like both those programs a lot," Hattis said. "The coaches have been very active and involved with me."
Hattis will then return home, but won't stay there for long. A trip to Arizona State is also on the itinerary.
"I plan to be at the Arizona State spring game for sure," Hattis said. "Their offensive line coach told me an offer was very likely. Some might say things like that to get me out there and show interest, but I feel they have been very sincere. I did go to their elite camp last summer and hopefully they get more confident in me."
Hattis hasn't set a visit to Texas Tech yet, but said he might later in the offseason.
According to Hattis, most of the coaches he has spoken with intend to utilize him in a pro-style blocking scheme.
"I am a little underweight right now partially because of basketball, but I'm more mobile," Hattis said. "That's what they like about me. I'm able to get out, pull and block linebackers and safeties down field."
Hattis doesn't have a timeframe for a decision, but he does know what we wants in a program.
"I would like to play for a good program that's powerful and successful," Hattis said. "The location of where I'll be living is a pretty big deal, too. All the schools that have offered are in great locations. The two New Mexico schools are close to home and my parents could come watch my games."
