Has Sherman committed

There was a report in a local newspaper in Long Beach this morning that mentioned Compton (Calif.) Dominguez standout Richard Sherman had committed to Stanford. We talked to Sherman a few minutes ago and he said that wasn't true as he's still waiting for an official offer from the Cardinal.
Sherman, 6-3, 170 pounds is one of the elite players in the West region on both sides of the ball. He could play receiver, corner or safety in college and said he doesn't have a preference right now where he lines up.

"I'll play wherever the team wants me to," Sherman said. "Mississippi State, where I just visited, wants me for receiver, Stanford and Oregon like me as an athlete, Colorado too. Those are the four main schools I'm looking at. Wherever I can get on the field the fastest is where I want to play, I really have no preference."
Sherman said he loved his visit to Mississippi State and especially the people.
"Everyone was so friendly, I got to see that southern hospitality first hand and it was great," Sherman said. "That was really the high point for me. Just meeting everyone, the players, the coaches and just the regular students at the school. I had never been to the South and it's obviously different than Los Angeles but I really liked it there.
"The campus is great, really a nice place and I like the facilities and everything associated with the football program. The food too, man, I never ate so much in my life. They definitely feed you well on those visits too. I also liked being able to spend time with the track coach. Overall, I had a great time and could definitely see myself at Mississippi State, that's big time football there."
As for the commitment rumor?
"Nah, I'm not ready to make a decision, even if I was cleared by their admissions, I still want to take some trips," Sherman added. "Right now, Stanford has my application and said it's really good, they like it a lot but just need one more sample essay from me and I'm turning that in to them tomorrow. Once they get that, they'll be able to review my whole application and will be able to tell me if I'm cleared or not.
"I don't have any other trips set right now except one to Oregon (Jan 13). I'm going to try to set one to Stanford for later this month and I want to visit Colorado as well. As for home visits, Mississippi State is coming this Sunday but that's the only school I have coming in so far."
On the season, Sherman has caught 27 balls for 826 yards (30.6 ave.) and 13 touchdowns.
