Harwell Still Torn

In early January during the CaliFlorida Bowl practices, Hacienda Hts. (Calif.) Los Altos defensive lineman Brigham Harwell mentioned that he was short on the SAT and that was a major reason why he wasn't ready to solidify his commitment to UCLA. Harwell was recently given word that he will be cleared using the sliding scale since his GPA is in the 2.9 range but the talented rush end said he's still torn between the Bruins and Arizona State.
"I would say I'm still leaning to UCLA but I just don't know what I'm going to do," Harwell said. "I was really excited when I found out that was I accepted in to UCLA and didn't need to re-take the SAT again. That was a big deal for me because I just freak out when I'm taking big tests. I met with Coach (Eric) Bieniemy a couple of weeks ago and when he told me I was in, I was fired up.

"At the same time, I'm still just not ready to make a final decision. ASU is a great school too and those coaches have been recruiting me really hard all season. There's an opportunity to play early there just like at UCLA and I had such a great time on my visit there. The coaches are all young and energetic and I'm really comfortable with them.
"I don't have any home visits set up with either school this week. What I would like to do is take most of the week to think over my decision and then have a final answer by the weekend. I know the sooner I can put this behind me the better, both for me and the two schools. That way they'll be able to move on to other players, even though I'm aware there's just a few days before Signing Day."
