The five-star wide receiver from Chandler, Ariz., announced his commitment to nearby Arizona State on Monday after an eventful recruiting process that included a couple of out-of-state official visits this season.
Harry, the top-rated prospect in Arizona, chose the Sun Devils over finalists Oregon, Texas A&M, USC and Washington. He visited the Aggies and Huskies in recent weeks but decided that staying home would be the best fit.
Texas A&M managed to sign the Grand Canyon State's top-rated prospect each of the last two cycles -- quarterback Kyle Allen and wide receiver Christian Kirk -- but ASU got a much-needed victory on the recruiting trail. Head coach Todd Graham arrived at Chandler via helicopter on Friday night to make one last appearance before the ceremony.
"There was not really pressure to stay home, but more like helping hands," Harry told Rivals.com. "The hometown fans are great. It's been a good support system.
"I just love how they run their offense and how they do everything at ASU. It's just a great program. I have a great relationship with the coaches and have known them for a long time with them being the first offer and everything. I was at the game last week and I had to get out there one last time before I made my decision."
Harry, the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2016 class, moved to Arizona from the Caribbean to live with his grandmother at an early age and that bond only grew closer. That relationship was an important factor throughout the process, but not the ultimate decider.
"As she went along with my recruitment, she noticed how things happen and she has been really encouraging," Harry said. "She did not want me to base the decision on her. She wants me to do what I have to do to be successful and that was a really big help."
Harry set an official visit with the Ducks to see them face rival Oregon State later this month, but said he didn't know whether that trip would happen. He intended to chat with his coaches to outline the next steps in the process.
