Harrison schedules three official visits

After visiting several schools during the off-season, Columbus (Ohio) Walnut Ridge athlete Malik Harrison planned to take official visits so he could compare. Three of those official visits have now been set.

"I am going to take officials to Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois," Harrison reported. "Indiana is on (September) 19th, Wisconsin is the 26th and then Illinois will be against Wisconsin (Oct. 24)."
Harrison noted these were just the first three he has scheduled and that more could be scheduled later in the process. The Sept. 19 weekend will be his second trip to Indiana, after making a stop in Bloomington this past June.
"I'm just looking to have a good time," Harrison said. "I haven't really thought of any questions I'll ask yet, but I will. I went last time and it felt like home. My dad's going to come, so I'll have him see how it is and how my family likes it."
An unofficial visit to Wisconsin took place in late July. The trip to Illinois, though, comes after the Illini fired head coach Tim Beckman in late August. That move, though, has not affected Harrison's interest level in Illinois.
"I had talked to (Beckman) once, but I have really been talking to Coach (Alex) Golesh and we have a pretty good connection," Harrison said.
Before he starts his official visit tour, Harrison will take an unofficial visit to the local Big Ten school.
"This weekend I am going down the street to see Ohio State's game," Harrison said. "I talked to (Luke) Fickell and Urban (Meyer) this weekend and they wanted me to get up there."
Ohio State scouted the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Harrison at their Friday Night Lights camp in July, working him out on the defensive side of the football. They have not offered a scholarship yet, but are keeping tabs on the local product.
Indiana and Illinois both project the three-star Harrison to wide receiver. Wisconsin has talked with him about playing a H-back role or a hybrid wide receiver/tight end spot in their offense.
Through two games of his senior season Harrison has lined up at quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, running back and linebacker. Walnut Ridge holds a 1-1 record through those first two games.
