Harrison drawing more interest

Oxnard (Calif.) Rio Mesa athlete Josh Harrison capped off a very strong regular season last weekend in helping lead the Spartans to a 21-16 win over Camarillo and a league championship. Harrison has the ability to play on either side of the ball in college and has a handful of colleges looking at him right now.
Harrison, 5-9, 170 pounds first caught our attention last year on the track, not the football field. The athlete finished third in the state in the long jump but once we saw his junior tape, we knew he was more than just a track guy playing football.

Harrison is a talented receiver and corner prospect and has the ability to play on both sides of the ball in college. He has had a very good senior season and is a big reason the Spartans finished 9-1 heading in to the playoffs this weekend.
On the year, the athlete has caught 37 balls for 821 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has has 27 tackles and a pair of interceptions as well on the defensive side of the ball. Boise State, Nevada, Idaho and Idaho State all offered early in the recruiting process and a few more schools are jumping in to the mix as well.
"Hawaii and San Jose State have both started recruiting me and have offered each offered a visit," Harrison said. "I also started hearing from Oregon, Utah, Washington State and TCU this week. Right now, I like all those schools that are recruiting me but my focus is on our season and the upcoming playoffs. I don't even want to think about setting up visits until our season is over. Once we're out, I'll turn my attention to recruiting but right now, all I'm thinking about is our game with Ventura this coming weekend."
