Harris speaks out
We haven't heard much from Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford wide receiver Maurice Harris recently but the 6-foot-2, 194-pound prospect could be one of the state's top junior prospects.
Over the weekend Harris made the short trip to Chapel Hill to check out the Tar Heels' spring game, which was televised nationally. How did the trip go?
"I west to Carolina (on Saturday) and it was good," Harris reported. "We got to go down there on the field with all the players. Overall the whole thing was good and I liked it.
"I talked to a bunch of coaches down on the field. A bunch of them spoke to me. We got there a little late but had a good time."
Harris said the trip to North Carolina was the first recruiting visit he has made for quite some time. He isn't sure what the immediate future holds but does have a pretty good idea of what he will be doing this summer.
"I'll probably go to the exact same (summer) camps I went to last year," he said. "Alabama, California, Oregon and I think I'm going to Clemson."
Harris said he is now at "7 or 8" offers. Alabama, Cal, Clemson, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina and NC State are among those that have extended scholarships.
Two of Harris' teammates from the Class of 2010 -- five-star defensive back Keenan Allen and four-star linebacker Chris McCain -- signed with Cal. Will their presence out west be a pull in the same direction for Harris?
"I'm just going to be making my own decision," he replied. "I'll probably wait until late (to decide). It will probably be during my senior year or after it."
