Gardena (Calif.) Serra defensive lineman DaJohn Harris has been tough to get a hold of for college coaches since the September 1 contact period started up. In fact, Harris has yet to talk to any college coach but he was able to set up his first official visit this coming weekend.
Harris, 6-4, 270 pounds is one of the nation's premier defensive line prospects and has drawn attention from schools all over the nation. He has a solid list of six or seven schools he's seriously considering with two standing out at this time.
"USC and Miami are my two favorites right now," Harris said. "After that, my next two would be Michigan and Nebraska and then in the next group, I would put UCLA, Oregon and Washington all together.

"I'm taking my first official visit this weekend to Michigan. They're playing Central Michigan I think and I'm really looking forward to it. I've been wanting to visit Michigan for awhile now and it's going to be cool to take the first on a game weekend.
"The three visits I know I'm going to take are Michigan, Miami and Nebraska. I'm not sure I'll visit USC because it's so close to home but I know they want to me to visit so I might decide later on to take it if I still have an opening or two after my first three visits."
As for calls, Harris said Miami is the only school that has called.
"I'm hard to get a hold of because I'm never home and my cell phone is all messed up," Harris said. "Miami has left me a message and we've been playing phone tag but I haven't connected with them yet. I'm going to call Nebraska on my own and set up a visit there as well."
Harris added that even though he hasn't talked to any colleges lately, it doesn't mean he's not getting recruited.
"The Servite boys, Chris Galippo and D.J. Shoemate call me all the time about coming to SC," Harris said. "Same thing with Brian Price and Raymond Carter about going to UCLA. They talk to me a lot and just keep saying how great their school is and how much they need me, it's cool though.
"I watched both teams play this weekend and they looked good. I really liked the Florida State-Miami game last night. Those defenses are so fast and aggressive, they just keep coming at you, that's kind of my style of play too.
"We have our first game this Friday at 3:15 and then I'll be leaving for Michigan later in the day so it should be a fun weekend. As for making a decision, I t hink I'll take it down to the wire and wait to commit until close to Signing Day."
