Bryan Harper picked up a big-time offer from Oregon on Wednesday and the three-star athlete from Ontario (Calif.) Colony is planning to visit with the Ducks the last weekend before National Signing Day.
Harper, a 6-foot, 180-pound prospect, said the Oregon offer is big in his recruitment but Arizona and UCLA still have a good chance at landing his commitment.
"Coach (John) Neal offered me," Harper said. "I am pretty excited about it. They're looking at me as an athlete. He said I could fit in on either side of the ball. We'll see how it plays out.
"It's a pretty big one. They did just win the Rose Bowl and every year they're doing good things and they develop their players pretty well. It's a big one and I can't wait to get up there on the 27th to see the place."
The visit is going to be important to Harper, who had been committed to Washington but recently decided to reopen his recruitment. He's sure of the football side of things and now wants to make sure he could see himself living in Eugene.
"Going up there and checking out to see if I could see myself there the next four years playing football will be fine," Harper said.
"I know the football part of it is great. I'm going to be looking at the lifestyle part of it. I want to check that out and see how it all goes."
Arizona, UCLA and Oregon are the three finalists for Harper, who will visit with the Wildcats this weekend and then the Bruins on Jan. 20. His trip to Oregon on Jan. 27 will wrap things up and then he should be ready to make a decision.
"That's what I have it narrowed down to," Harper said. "All those schools have been recruiting me really, really hard and I like all those schools. It's going to come down to those three most definitely.
"I'm leaning toward signing day. Then again I can't put a time on it because I could go somewhere and fall in love with it and make a commitment to the coach right then and there. I can't put a time on it but it's kind of looking like signing day because Oregon isn't until the 27th and there isn't too much time after that. It's looking like signing day right now."
