Hard hitting safety with lone offer

Chris Johnson is a big time prospect from central Florida. Johnson, 5-10 and 193 pounds, is a hard hitting safety prospect from Ocala Trinity Catholic. Last season as a junior he recorded 122 tackles, two forced fumbles and three sacks.
"I am the type of player that prefers the big hit over the pick," Johnson said. "I am very physical back there at safety. I just love to hit and punish people."

Johnson has one written scholarship thus far and is hearing for a bunch of other schools.
"South Carolina has offered officially while Vanderbilt has given me a verbal offer. When South Carolina offered I was shocked. It was awesome and came unexpectedly. I will say this; it was a day I will never forget.
"I like South Carolina. It's the SEC and that's a powerhouse program. The SEC has now won four national championships in a row. I think Steve Spurrier is a really good guy. I have seen him now three or four times and I think he's very cool and laid back. He's a high energy guy that wants to win."
Does the early offer from the Gamecocks give them an advantage?
"No, not really. I am open to all. I like South Carolina, Florida, Miami, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, USF and Louisville. I am very interested in the new coaches at USF and Louisville."
Williams attended a junior day at Florida last weekend. He said he will try and make it to Florida State for a Seminoles junior day this weekend.
Williams also runs track for Trinity Catholic - 100 meters, 200 meters, 4x100 relay and the high jump.
