Hanie makes college choice

Forney, Texas quarterback Caleb Hanie has returned from camp and decided on a college.
"Caleb has made a verbal commitment to Colorado State," Robert Hanie, the father of the 6-foot-2, 226-pound signal caller said. "His camp experience was first rate and made the decision easier."

It was not an easy decision for Hanie.
"He struggled with his other choices of Houston and Baylor," the elder Hanie said. "But, he thought that Colorado State was the best fit all the way around."
Ram coaches Sonny Lubick and Darrell Funk were key to Hanie deciding on Colorado State.
"Coach Funk and Coach Lubick helped in this process by being accessible and aggressive in their recruitment," he said. "Caleb also fits well into their offensive scheme."
Hanie earned second-team all-district honors and was named his district's newcomer of the year as a junior. He completed 102 of 194 passes for 1,593 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2002. He also rushed for 316 yards and 12 scores.
