Haney moves ASU up after offer

Cameron Haney has been talking to the Arizona State coaching staff for weeks and finally on Tuesday the Sun Devils came through with an offer.
Waiting was well worth it for the Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral cornerback who said Arizona State immediately jumps way up his list and he's hoping to visit Tempe sometime in late August before his senior season gets underway.

"I've been talking to them," Haney said. "I've been talking to them for about two weeks and I've talked to them on an every-day basis. They just decided to offer me.
"I sent them my highlight tape and then the safeties coach got back at me and he told me he loved it. I was talking to them after that and then I called them and I was talking to them. They had to send the film to the head coach and they got back at me (Tuesday) and they offered me."
Haney, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound defensive back, said the Arizona State offer is big especially since the team is coming off a Pac-12 championship game appearance.
Before the Los Angeles Cathedral prospect gets too excited, though, Haney wants to visit with ASU to get a much better feel for the place.
"It's pretty big because they won the Pac-12 South last year," Haney said. "That's really big. It's a great program and their defense is off the charts. That offer is really big. Their defense is really good. I'm going to take my visit there and see when I'm going to make my decision.
"I'm going to visit soon. It should be before September, sometime toward the end of August."
So far, Haney has only taken an unofficial visit to Nevada. He plans to take official trips to Washington, Washington State, Arizona State and Nevada this season. Utah and Louisville are showing new interest but neither program has offered at this point.
Haney lists offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Nevada, Washington, Washington State and Wyoming so far.
