This weekend, the South Carolina Gamecocks will play host to Da'Shawn Hand, the nation's top player. The Gamecocks, Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Virginia Tech make up the standout defensive end's top five, and the only other schools in his top five that have had Hand on campus are the Wolverines and the Hokies.

The star player from Woodbridge (Va.) Woodbridge Senior explained what this visit means for South Carolina.
"This visit will help determine where they stand with me," the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Hand said. "I haven't been to South Carolina yet. All I know about them is Jadeveon Clowney and Brad Lawing, when he was there."
From the sound of it, it seems like the head ball coach may have some work to do.
"I haven't talked to Coach Steve Spurrier or anything," Hand said. "We have never communicated. I don't know if he is interested or not, but I guess we'll figure it out."
Hand has a few ideas of what he wants to do while in Columbia.
"I want to talk to the sports management professor," Hand said. "I want to get a feel for how the academics are down there. I'd like to see some of the buildings and hang out with the players. Of course, I want to see how the social life is and see if I could live there for five years."
Hand will be at the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour when it hits Richmond.
