Hampton has a plan in place

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Michael Hampton's offer lists stands at nine. Plenty of major programs are involved with the Tampa, (Fla.) Hillsborough High School defensive back. It's just that the school he would prefer to attend hasn't asked him to do so. And, at least for now, Hampton's content to cross his fingers and hope something shakes.
If not, he has backup options galore.

"Florida State hasn't offered yet, but they're the top team," Hampton said. "Out of the offers, though, It's probably USF, Virginia and Pittsburgh."
The driving forces behind each schools inclusion on Hampton's shortlist are familiar. His reasoning isn't groundbreaking or altogether unique. Instead, the group of frontrunners is formed around traditional recruiting logic.
"Those three show a lot of love and like to play a lot of man coverage," Hampton said. "They see me playing a lot early on, so I like that."
Still, the three-star prospect has plenty of traveling to do. He hopes to wait until Sighing Day to announce his decision. Whether or not he's able to hold out until then or not, however, he has some trips in mind.
"I want to take trips to USF, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Indiana and Iowa for sure," he said. "Other than that, I don't really know."
A long, 6-foot-1 cornerback, Hampton plays offense at defense at Hillsborough. As a junior, he caught 30 passes for 591 yards and three touchdowns. He also recorded 51 tackles and four interceptions.
