Hammonds travel plans in motion

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Josh Hammond has offers. Lots of them. Fourteen to be exact.
It doesn't mean the Hallandale (Fla.) High School wide receiver is in much of a hurry to name favorites of list standouts, though. Ask him and he takes a hardline everyone-is-even approach. He'll wait until he sees some campuses to start creating separation. He's considering travel takes now.

"I'm still planning things, but I want to get to Ohio State for sure," Hammond said. " I want to go to Notre Dame for sure, too. I want to do that pretty soon."
While Hammond plans his next move and other visits down the road, his unofficial visit tour has already been set in motion. Hammond toured both Duke and N.C. State last weekend.
'They were both good schools with great environments. I went to a basketball game at Duke. That was a really great environment. Both schools were about what I expected.
Hammond says that Duke is currently recruiting him the hardest of the schools that have offered, but his recruitment will be about more than which program shows him the most attention. He has a few checklist items in mind already.
'I want to major in communications, so that's going to be a key factor," Hammond said. "Also, playing time. I want to play my freshman year because I plan to enroll early."
According to Hammond, he is on pace academically to enroll in the school of his choice a semester early. Which school that will be, however, is very much up in the air. Florida has recently entered Hammond's recruitment but no offer has manifested at this time. TCU and Stanford have also recently touched base.
As a junior, Hammond caught 25 passes for 413 yards and six touchdowns.
