Hamlette down to three, decision coming

Stafford (Va.) Brooke Point defensive end Isaiah Hamlette is closing in on a decision. The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder has three finalists and is hoping to make a decision in the near future.
"I'm getting closer to a decision, but I haven't made it," he said. "I've been trying to do some research academically to find the best choice for me.

"I'm down to Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest."
Do any colleges stand out to Hamlette?
"The Virginia schools do," he said. "It's just because I want to play for my state, neither one of them though really sticks out."
A couple weeks back the Virginia lineman visited Charlottesville to check out the Cavaliers.
"I went to a junior day at Virginia," he said. "It was really good, they showed me a lot of things at their camp including the facilities and how it's a new era for UVA. They put a lot of pride in academic achievement too."
Was Hamlette impressed by the trip to Virginia?
"Very much so," he said. "I really liked the facilities and all the money they've put into the program. I like the coaches there a lot too. The only question I had was the 3-4 defense and my responsibilities in that. I like to be active in the defense and not just be a space eater. The coaches did talk to me though and said they think I could do some good things for their program and make me the best person I can be."
In the past couple weeks Hamlette hasn't taken any other visits, although he is considering a two more before a decision.
"I'm looking at going to Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, possibly at the beginning of July," he said. "At the same time, I want to make a decision in the next week or two. So it's hard to say if I'll take those return trips.
"Either way, I'm just looking for that decision factor that'll make this choice easy. It's hard for me to choose from these three good schools. I want to make it in football and academically."
