Hamdan Has Visit Canceled

Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell quarterback Bush Hamdan had a trip set to UCLA this weekend but that has now been canceled. The 6-0, 185 pound signal caller is beginning to run out of options and may decide to walk on somewhere in hopes of earning a scholarship.
Every year we come across players who shine at summer camps as well as on the field but don't receive the recruiting attention they deserve. Hamdan lit up the EA SPORTS Elite workout in Las Vegas and was just about everybody's choice as the top signal caller of the camp.

"He had the best two workouts easily, no question about it," Elite 11 QB coach Bob Johnson said. "He was the most consistent by far, spins it every time and has great arm strength. We had some very good quarterbacks there but he was the best in my eyes."
Hamdan then went out and had a solid senior season throwing for 2,080 yards and 22 touchdowns. He had early interest from schools like Penn State, Maryland, Virginia and UCLA but no one was ready to offer. UCLA had a trip lined up for this weekend but called earlier this week and canceled it.
"UCLA said they have a quarterback already committed, Rudy Carpenter I believe," Hamdan said. "I was pretty disappointed because I was looking forward to the visit and plus it was the only one I had set up. I've been offered preferred walk-on status from several schools but I haven't decided what I'm going to do. I just got a call this week from Jim Harbaugh who's at UC San Diego. I guess Bob (Johnson) recommended me to him but that's a long way from home and they don't offer scholarships since they're a Div II school. It would be great to learn from a guy like that but I'm just not sure what I'm going to do right now."
