THE LATEST: Public perception isn’t lost on Gurvan Hall. He has plenty of offers already, and there are likely more to come. Still, the converted defensive back knows the prevailing thought is that Miami leads his recruitment. Ask him about that line of thinking and he denies … be it not especially vehemently.

“ I mean, It’s like … I really like the connection I have with Miami coaches,” Hall said on Sunday. “I mean, I really like it, but I’m still weighing my options. You know?”

According to Hall, there are plenty of other schools in the race. He lists Alabama, Florida, Florida State and Notre Dame as programs with which he has frequent contact. His recruitment is no closed case. Not yet anyway.

Instead, he plans to set out on visits.

“I know I’m going to Miami on the Feb. 18 and then going to Florida State on the 25th,” Hall said.

While in-state schools currently populate his travel itinerary, Hall insists location doesn’t much matter to him. Neither does his specific position. According to Hall, most schools want him to play safety but he’s open to being a cornerback, as he’s received some fleeting interest at that position as well.

Hall attends West Palm Beach (Fla.) High School. He is considered to be one of the top safeties in the region.

IN HIS WORDS: “It’s about academics for me,” Hall said. “I’m looking for that. I mean, I have dreams to play in the league if I can, but academics is what’s going to set me up.”

RIVALS REACTION: Hall is almost certainly a Miami lean. That’s not to say he will definitely end up as a Hurricane, though. Florida State, Florida and other schools remain involved. Miami is off to a hot start this cycle and the momentum it has built is certainly not lost on Hall. That said, his upcoming visits will help set the tone of the summer and how his perspective shakes out. He’s not a Hurricane lock by any means.
