Hagerup draws new interest

Whitefish Bay, Wis., junior Chris Hagerup has been drawing interest from recruiters for his talents as a kicker and punter. However the 6-foot-5 and 205-pounder also played quarterback during his junior season and recruiters are becoming increasingly impressed with his abilities as a signal-caller.
"The past couple weeks I've gotten some more letters," Hagerup said. "Colorado sent a letter. I got a letter from Stanford too.

"I went to a (spring) practice at Indiana. They seem more interested in me as a quarterback. Purdue seems interested in me as a quarterback. I got a hand written letter from them. And Wisconsin sent a hand written letter."
Indiana is not the only school Hagerup has recently visited.
"I visited Illinois too," he said. "I talked to the head coach and the defensive coordinator."
Hagerup has some other visits in mind.
"Hopefully I'll get up to Wisconsin for a spring practice, maybe this week, maybe Wednesday," he said. "I'll try and get to Northwestern too."
Hagerup made 18 of 20 extra points during his junior season and five of eight field goals. He also averaged 39 yards per punt.
"Wisconsin is looking at me for kicking and punting," Hagerup said. "I'd say they are still my favorite just because I've grown up with them."
In addition to his work as a kicker and punter, Hagerup also had close to 800 yards passing and 200 rushing last season.
