School: Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee
Position: Offensive Lineman
Size and Speed: Hafferty is 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds. He has run a 5.10 second 40-yard dash.
Favorite Schools: Hafferty’s father played college ball at Kansas State, making the Wildcats one of the teams to beat on his list. Colorado is high on the list as well. Others involved are Auburn, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
Skinny: Hafferty, by the end of the summer, will be one of the most traveled players in the country.
He has already attended Colorado’s junior day and taken unofficial visits to Alabama, Auburn and Georgia Tech. His most recent trip was to K-State for their spring game.
“John really enjoyed his visit to K-State,” Hafferty’s mother said. “It was a lot of fun meeting Coach (Bill) Snyder and (offensive line) coach (Bob) Stanley. The highlight of the visit was getting to know the program better by talking to the coaches and getting to know them.”
Hafferty also got a chance to watch the Wildcats practice.
“He was invited to the closed practice on Friday and enjoyed talking with some of the players on the sideline while he was there.”
"It was just beautiful," Hafferty said earlier about his trip to Colorado. "I was very impressed with everything about it. The campus was great and I like the atmosphere.
Hafferty had to decline spring game invitations to Mississippi, Mississippi State, Florida and Tennessee due to conflicts with ACT and SAT testing dates.
The travel schedule only picks up when school is out in May.
“John is going to camp at Alabama, Colorado, Kansas State and Boston College for sure. He has also looked into camps at Nebraska, Auburn, Mississippi, LSU Maryland and Oklhaoma.”
