Hafferty chooses Wildcats after offer

Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee offensive guard John Hafferty received his first scholarship offer in the mail Friday.
“He received the written offer from K-State today in the mail,” Adrienne Hafferty, John’s mother said. “He has accepted the offer."
"I called up (offensive line) Coach (Bob) Stanley and told him I was accepting their offer and coming to K-State," Hafferty said.
Hafferty had attended camps at K-State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, North Carolina and Boston College already this summer.
Hafferty’s father, John, played at K-State from 1976-78.
“They were my No. 1 choice. I’ve kind of grown up with K-State football with my dad having played there. They’ve always been a top contender and I’ve always wanted to go there."
It took a good performance in front of the K-State coaches to convince them to offer the 6-foot-3, 305-pounder.
“I guess because I’m out of their region they didn’t know what to expect really. They were excited I was there. I just kept playing hard every day and in the one-on-one drills, I dominated.”
