Gwaltney sets official visit to USC

Long Island (N.Y.) North Babylon running back Jason Gwaltney has been committed to West Virginia since February, but is now beginning to open the recruiting process a bit, at least for one school.
"I'm still committed to West Virginia and that's where I want to go, but I'm taking an official visit to Southern Cal on Dec. 17," said the 6-foot-0, 234-pounder. "They haven't offered yet but they said they would if I visit. I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice and have something to compare West Virginia to."

Gwaltney is also considering an official visit to Pitt for Oct. 8 when they host Boston College, but isn't sure about that yet. Michigan is another school he's interested in and he sent them game film to see if they'll offer.
"I'll probably take my West Virginia visit in December or January," he said. "I like West Virginia for a lot of different reasons and I don't expect that to change, but I want to make sure of things and see if something else is out there to turn my head."
Gwaltney rushed for around 200 yards on 36 carries in his first game of the season. His team still runs mostly out of a Wing-T offense, but will mix things up a bit more this year.
"I'm hoping we run out of some more pro sets and things like that," he said. "That will help me show what I can do even better."
