Gutierrez back from first trip

While many college football fans around the country were surprised to hear the 49-42 final score of the Stanford win over Oregon on Saturday, the nation’s fifth-ranked pro-style quarterback, Matt Gutierrez was busy watching the game from the stands.
Gutierrez, who was one of two players on his official visit to Oregon, was impressed with what he saw from UO despite the Duck loss.

“It was an awesome game for quarterback,” Gutierrez explained. “They were throwing the ball over the place. I mean the two teams combined for more than 90 points – that doesn’t happen very often.”
Gutierrez declined to mention a favorite although the Ducks are thought to be in the driver’s seat for his signature. His best friend, Demetrious Williams, is a freshman on the current Duck squad.
However, the 6-foot-4, 208-pound right-handed Gutierrez says he expects to take a few more official visits before reaching a decision.
Michigan, Florida, Tennessee and Notre Dame are possibilities, but he has yet to schedule any other official visits.
Joe Newton, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound tight end from Roseburg, Ore., also made his official visit to Eugene this weekend.
