Gunn down to two

For weeks now many people expected the battle to land the commitment from three-star running back Brandon Gunn of Omaha (Neb.) Central would come down to either Kansas State or Nebraska.
But if you ask Gunn it sounds like only part of that equation is true.

“The main two, I’m looking at now are Kansas State and Iowa State,” Gunn, who is 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, said.
“I would probably say Nebraska is in third now. It’s not really because of the coaching situation, but that’s something that is on my mind quite a bit. I think it’s more of a case of K-State and Iowa State doing a very good job of recruiting me.”
Iowa State coach Dan McCarney has already made an in-home visit with Gunn and he mentioned that Kansas State coach Bill Snyder might visit with him later this week, but if not he would come after the dead period in January. However, there is a chance that Gunn could have a decision out of the way by them.
“It won’t be a bad decision for me to make, and I’m getting to the point where I feel comfortable with my choices,” he said. “I’m going to take some time and really think things over. I’ll probably have a decision out of the way in a week or two.”
Gunn said the in-home visit from McCarney made a good impression.
“They weren’t trying to pressure me into committing, but they were really excited about how I would fit into their offense,” he said.
“They talked about how young they were and how a player like me could step in there and contribute pretty early. That was good to hear.
"I want to hear what Kansas State has to say and then figure out what’s the best situation for me for the next four or five years of my life.”
