Gumbita takes an unofficial

Mount Pleasant, Pa. offensive tackle Rob Gumbita took an unofficial visit just over a week ago. Where did the 6-foot-4, 298-pounder go and does he have any other trips coming up?
"I went to Buffalo two weeks ago to watch their game against Baylor," he said. "It was a real nice visit. Everything is new there and they looked good in the game. Their quarterback had four interceptions. It's hard to win whenever you turn the ball over that much.

"The atmosphere at the game was much better than I thought it would be from the student section. I also got to talk to the coaches. They are really cool. That's a big reason I'm looking at them."
Did the visit push Gumbita towards Buffalo?
"I'm definitely looking at them hard, but I'm keeping my options open," he said. "I want to take all my visits before any decision is made."
Lots of other schools are taking a look at Gumbita, who holds offers from Maryland and Buffalo at this time.
"I'm getting calls from Indiana, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Akron and Kent. They all are interested and want to see my senior film," he said. "I'm looking at visits up to Akron, Kent, West Virginia and Pittsburgh real soon. I have no dates set, but I'm working them out."
On the season, the two-star prospect has helped his team to a 3-1 record.
"Our offense needs some work, but the defense is playing real good right now," he said. "I've been doing well. I have two sacks on defense and a good number of tackles. I've seen an improvement in my strength this season. That really increased in the offseason and is allowing me to finish people off."
