Gross set to hit the road

Marvin Gross has stayed close to home for much of the summer but that's about to change.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end from Baltimore (Md.) Dunbar is a unique prospect in that most of the schools recruiting him seem to be from other parts of the country.

He has mentioned schools like Washington, Hawaii, Colorado, Purdue and several others a long way from home. Now he has plans to check out a school in Texas that you just don't think of when it comes to recruiting in the Maryland area.
"I think next weekend I might be going to UTEP," Gross said this week. "Later on, probably on July 16, I think I'll be going to Wake Forest. Then towards the end of the summer I'm going to either go see Washington or Colorado."
That won't be all. Gross said he's leaning towards using up all five of his official visits before making his decision, meaning this one could drag out for a while.
"I don't really have any favorites," Gross is quick to note. "I still probably have to get it down to five schools soon before I take my officials but I don't know yet."
One thing is clear: Distance won't matter.
"I don't have a problem going away from home," he said. "I actually think it would benefit me more than staying close would."
