Omaha (Neb.) Central four-star cornerback Cortney Grixby was leaning toward Nebraska after taking an official visit to Lincoln back on November 14. However, now that Nebraska is without a head coach, one has to wonder what his status is now.
“I was going back and forth between committing and waiting it out,” Grixby said. “But now that coach Solich is gone, I’m definitely going to wait and see what happens. I want to see who they’re going to hire full time.”
Grixby said that with Nebraska in limbo now that’s going to open the door up for UCLA and Kansas State to for sure get official visits. He’s also already visited Iowa back in September.
“I’m supposed to go to UCLA in January and I’m looking to visit Kansas State in January too. A decision could come before that, but I don’t think so now that this is going on at Nebraska.”
Solich’s firing did come as a surprise to Grixby.
“I thought he deserved more time to turn things around,” Grixby, who is 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds, said. “They won nine games this year and the players really liked coach Solich. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens now that he’s gone.”
