Grixby hoping injury lets him play

Omaha (Neb.) Central cornerback Cortney Grixby hoped to be recovered from a broken finger in time for his team’s game. But, he wouldn’t know until game time.
“I’m healed up,” he 5-foot-9, 160-pound Grixby said. “I’m not 100 percent, but I’m a lot better than I was. I might get out on the field some on defense. I don’t know if I’ll get on offense or not.”

The same schools continue to call the state of Nebraska’s top player.
“It doesn’t change much,” he said. “It’s the same ones I have been hearing from. I have an official trip to Nebraska in a few weeks. That’s about the only new news in the past couple weeks.”
The visit to Lincoln will be the second official visit for Grixby.
“I did visit to Iowa earlier,” he said. “It was a good time. It definitely gave me something to keep in mind.”
Other schools in the running for official visits include Iowa State, Kansas State, UCLA and Colorado.
“I don’t have any other visits lined up, yet,” he said. “I’ll probably get them lined up when we’re done with our season.”
