Griffin's still LSU, but another school is up there too

ROME, Ga.Ja'Quon Griffin was one of three defensive lineman out of Rome (Ga.) to commit to LSU on April 22. Since then, two (Adam Anderson and Jamarcus Chatman) have decommitted from the Tigers, but Griffin still has his name on their commitment list.

Even though Griffin is still committed, he is still keeping his options open.

"I am still committed to LSU, but I am looking around still," said Griffin. "I am not locked in or anything. I am still seeing what else is out there."

One school has come on hard in recent months and they are high on his list.

"I went up to Appalachian State to hang out over the summer and I liked it a lot up there. I got the tour, I met a lot of the players and their coaches have been showing me a lot more attention than LSU's.

"I would put them right there with LSU right now. I mean, I am still committed, but Appalachian State is talking to me every day and I know they want me to be part of their program."

LSU has picked things up with Griffin, but the communication has not been consistent.

"I still talk to coach Johnson some, but there was a time when they weren't really showing that much interest," said Griffin. "It has been better the last month or so.

"Coach Johnson is now sending me messages and just telling me to keep up the good work and things like that."

More visits are coming for Griffin this fall. He knows he will take official visits to Appalachian State and LSU. He is not sure of the others yet.

Look for him to continue to evaluate his different options.

"I still like LSU and I like their history of defensive linemen and how coach Orgeron is a defensive guy, but I don't really care if I am going to a big or not.

"I just want to find the right school for me. Right now it is LSU, but Appalachian State is very close with them.

"I will see who shows me a lot of attention and how visits go, then we will see."
